Jacob8 Winemiller (John7, John Frantz (Francis)6, Johannes (John)5 Weinmuller, Conrad4 Weinmueller, Johannes "Hans"3, Hans Friedrich II2, Hans Friedrich I1) (#692) was born York County Pennsylvania March 27, 1816. Jacob died July 23, 1892 Sheridan, Missouri, at 76 years of age. His body was interred Sheridan, Missouri.

He married twice. He married Elitha Carpenter Monroe County Ohio, 1836. (Elitha Carpenter is #693.) Elitha was born Monroe County Ohio about 1816. Elitha was the daughter of Joseph Carpenter and Nancy. Elitha died 1849 Monroe County Ohio, at 33 years of age. He married Clarinda Tuttle Monroe County Ohio, 1850. (Clarinda Tuttle is #704.) Clarinda was born 1827. Clarinda was the daughter of John Tuttle. Her body was interred Sheridan, Missouri. Jacob Winemiller was born March 27th 1816 in York County Pennsylvania, as was also John Winemiller his father. His mother's madien name was Catherine Zeller. In 1823 the family moved from York County to Ohio and located in Belmont County, where they resided some five years, going thence to Monroe County, of the same education. He was married in Monroe County, Ohio, in 1836 to Miss Elitha Carpenter, daughter of Joseph Carpenter. She was born in that county. Mr Winemiller has three children by this marriage: Joseph, John and Lydia Ann (wife of Lewis White). Mrs Winemiller died in Monroe County in 1849. Jacob later married Clarinda Tuttle, in 1850. This wife is the daughter of John Tuttle. In March, 1858, Mr W moved to Iowa and located in Adams County where he engaged in farming an stock raising for seven years. He came to Worth County Missouri in 1865 and settled at Winemiller's Mills, since named Defiance, where he engaged in the saw mill and lumber business. He followed this business for three years and then entered into the flouring business at the same point; hence the original name of this town was called after Mr Winemiller and his mill. He was the first postmaster at the place ans still acts in that capacity. Mr Winemiller sold out his mill some five years ago, and has since been engaged in farming and stock raising. He has 554 acres of land, 500 enclosed and 300 in cultivation. He resides in Defiance, and has a good dwelling and barn and a good bearing orchard of apple and other fruits. There are four children by this last marriage; Catherine (wife of James T. Johnson), Benjamin, Walter, and Henry. Mr and Mrs W. are members of the M. E. Church, and he belongs to the Masonic order.
